As you might guess from the name alone, it’s
a strip with integrated LEDs. It looks, however, as a transparent tube, or
rather, a flexible hose is glowing. The fact is that the LED strip is
embedded in a transparent protective cover of rubber or plastic, and its
exterior forms. Although with a strong desire, it can be found
"naked" tape. It can be powered via a connection to a computer
via USB connector or from the wall outlet using an adapter. USB input power
(e.g. 12V 10A power supply) gives about 5 watts, so that the power consumption at
a minimum the tape. LED strip can be presented in two versions:
l Monochrome
l Three-color or RGB
In the first case, it typically emits an
ordinary white light typical of LED Lighting. However, there are also
versions with red, green, blue and yellow tint. Since the LED ribbon shine
rather weakly, then, as the light source, its use is problematic, although
possible, but fit just right as decorative lighting. It can burn in
several modes: a constant light, "wavy" or "one-two" (one
off, while the others are waiting in the wings, a second ignited next, and the
previous one goes off and so on indefinitely). Mode depends on the factory
setting.
Besides, now you can often see a garland,
change their mode of every 5-10 minutes. This requires a special
controller, which can be embedded acquired USB 5 Volt LED strip, or purchased separately (in which case it will have to
be connected by soldering alone, so it is recommended to use all the built-in
versions). All that is necessary for the start of the holiday - it powered
from the computer - and enjoy the view.
It is used in most modern matrix monitors,
laptops, televisions and other products, working on Led technology. Just
monitors notebooks, for example, used microscopic invisible to the eye diodes
forming the panel. If someone is paying attention to the huge monitors
mounted on the stages, and then there just might see these very large LED panel
lights. Just as large as in the LED ribbon, which we are discussing today. We
can say that it is a by-product of high technology (tear from a huge monitor,
"thread", probably would have looked exactly like a garland).
