When we are at home, we like to control the light with wireless remote lamp switch for its convenience. Actually, easy lamp remote control is one of the biggest advantages of LED in general lighting applications. This application note introduces the remote control scheme of street lighting system, which can be controlled by power line transmission or wireless transmission.
The LED offers greater design flexibility for dimming and changing lighting colors, making it ideal for applications such as architectural lighting, interior lighting and dimming, energy efficient streetlights and outdoor lighting.
These applications can give users a great value-added space, but in order to succeed in the market, the lighting facilities to upgrade the cost of LED technology must be controlled at the lowest level. There is no doubt that programs that can reuse existing infrastructure are necessarily the most popular programs.
In the remote control LED lighting applications, the product upgrade cost of the highest infrastructure is to control the LED lighting wiring. Fortunately, you can use two kinds of technology to save this expensive upgrade costs: LED lights can be controlled through the wireless link or the use of PLC technology through the existing power line control.
Remote control LED lighting, the main design requirements include:
1.Communication range. This depends on the specific application, for the residential indoor applications, 30m or so to meet the requirements of the communication range, street lights will need a few kilometers of communication range.
2.Low power consumption. An important selling point for LEDs is energy efficiency. Closed lighting, only the communication line to maintain a valid state, the need to ensure the lowest power consumption of LED lights, which is very critical for the design.
3.Communication rate. Some lighting applications require a lower communication rate (several kbps) to meet the requirements of dimming control and fault state readings. However, architectural lighting sometimes requires very high data rates, even up to 100kbps. Wall was a typical example of this type of application, through a bus control of multiple lights, and the need to constantly change the light color.
4. Low cost. Most lighting applications have similar requirements.
